This is a busy, yet rewarding year for the children, where we hope to see them achieve their very best. We also endeavour to prepare all children for a very smooth transition towards the next phase of their lives: secondary school.

Homework is an important part of this transition and we value the support that you can give, when prompting your child and assisting them with any homework. Below is a useful reference of the days for various homework tasks, which the children will be given in Year 6 this year:

Amethyst class

Monday - Homework and spellings handed out and to be returned by Friday.  Spelling test the following Monday.

Emperor class

Friday- Homework and spellings handed out and to be returned by following Thursday. Spelling test Friday.

The children are also expected to read for at least thirty minutes each day. At this stage in their education, they may choose to write in their reading records themselves as evidence of this.

In addition to this, it is vital that the children know the times tables and related division facts. These are very important in Year 6 as they speed up calculations across a range of topics in mathematics. We will be doing spot check on times tables throughout the week so please remind your child to practise these regularly.

Please be advised that homework is an important part of the learning process in Year 6, therefore should children not complete homework, their attendance will be compulsory at the next Homework Club during lunchtimes. Thank you in advance for your support with this.

P.E will be taught on Tuesdays and Fridays. Please ensure that your child has correct P.E kit in school on this day, including tracksuit trousers and a jumper for the winter.

At the end of the day:

Parents wait and collect their children outside the classrooms.
All children need to be collected by an adult unless we have written permission that your child can walk home.
Please let the office know if collection arrangements change or if you are running late.
If you have any concerns, please come in and see us at the end of the day, leave a message with the office who can arrange a time to speak with us.

We wish all of the children a fantastic year.
