Welcome to our Year 3 page. We have a really exciting year ahead of us this year with lots to look forward to.

Our P.E. days this term are Mondays and Wednesdays. Please send your child in their P.E kit on these days. Could all clothing be clearly named to avoid anything getting lost.

Approx Time:  10 minutes three times per week

Each half term, the spellings will be put into your child’s reading diary.

Spelling Shed will be set up weekly to allow them to practise these words.

The children can practise these words without using spelling shed if they prefer.

The children will be tested on the words every fortnight (on a Friday) in the form of a dictation sentence/ paragraph.

Approx Time:  30 minutes per night

The children are expected to read every night and record this in their reading diary.

We will collect the reading diaries in on a Friday. The children will be kept in at break time to read if they have not read at least three times.

Approx Time: 10 minutes three times per week

Times Tables on Times Tables Rockstars.

Each child will be set up for Timestables Rockstars, placed in an appropriate starting point. The level of challenge will increase accordingly.

We will be monitoring their progress online and reward during the week.

We can see the answers given and will give feedback in school.

Each half term, we will set a creative homework. Please see our termly newsletter for details of this.

Children will present their work at the end of the half term.

Children are expected to read for 30 minutes every day and record this in their Home-School books. Even if your child can read independently, we recommend that you do still hear your child read regularly.  We would encourage parents to ask their child questions about what they read to help them develop their comprehension skills. If you would like some guidance on questions you could ask, please ask your child's class teacher.

Home-School books will be checked weekly.

At the end of the day:

  • Parents wait and collect their children outside the classrooms.
  • All children need to be collected by an adult unless we have written permission that your child can walk home.
  • Please let the office know if collection arrangements change or if you are running late.

If you would like to speak to your child's class teacher, please email the office to arrange an appointment.
