Admissions to Nursery

Visiting our nursery

We are always very happy to welcome families into school to visit our nursery. Please complete our online form to provide your details and we will be able to arrange a time for you to come in to see the nursery provision and meet staff. Nursery hours and prices

Cranmere Primary School manages its own admissions procedure for the nursery and children are eligible to join in the term following their third birthday.

We run two 15-hour nursery classes per week, each comprising two and a half days. We take a maximum of 26 pupils per class. You can choose between the following:

  • Puffins class runs on Monday (9am-3pm), Tuesday (9am-3pm) and Wednesday mornings (8.45am-11.45am).
  • Owls class runs on Wednesday afternoons (12.15pm-3.15pm), Thursday (9am-3pm) and Friday (9am-3pm).

These two classes each make up the free 15 hour entitlement for nursery-age children. There is no top-up fee. Please note that the hours for each class are fixed - we are unable to offer any variation, such as mornings only. 

A limited number of 30-hour places (i.e. full-time, all week) are available for families who are eligible for 30 funded hours of childcare. You can find more information on eligibility here. Children who are eligible for this funding attend nursery every day: Monday 9am-3pm, Tuesday 9am-3pm, Wednesday 8.45am-2.45pm, Thursday 9am-3pm and Friday 9am-3pm. You can opt to pay for an additional 30 minutes for your child to finish at 3.15pm on Wednesdays; the price for this is currently £3.40 per week.

Families who are not eligible for 30 hours may be able to pay for an additional 15 hours each week. The price for this is currently £6.80 per hour. Please note that this is subject to availability, and you must commit to paying for the full 15 additional hours every week - you cannot request fewer hours. 

We also run an on-demand wrap-around care service for our nursery children, whereby families can pay for additional time at nursery either before the normal drop-off time (from 8am) or after the normal pickup time (until 4pm). Applying for the nursery

If you are interested in joining Cranmere nursery then please download an application form (available below) and return it to [email protected]. You are welcome to apply for an intake as early as you wish - there is no deposit or fee for submitting an application and being added to the applicant pool. Please note though - we can only confirm whether or not we can offer you a place a few months before the intake start date. This time frame is the same for everyone who applies.
