Coronavirus (Covid-19) update - updated 27-03-20 at 16:25

School remains closed for the majority of pupils until further notice

We will remain open for eligible families who need childcare in order to be able to continue their work (keyworkers).  These families have already been identified and we will be expecting their children in school on the days they have indicated, between normal school hours. The hall door will open for children between 8:30am and 8:50am and the collection time is 3:15pm, as normal, from the hall door.

Unfortunately we no longer have staff at lunchtime who are able to cook a school meal, so any pupils attending need to make sure they have a packed lunch from next week.

Easter: We will be updating the families of children who are still coming into school about the situation over the Easter holidays.  At this stage we do still intend to provide some form of childcare, but it may not be available on every day.

Since we do not know what the next steps will be or how long the closure will continue, please make sure you visit our website regularly and keep an eye out for updates - we will send these by email and/or text.

For the latest information and updates from school please go to our document library where there is a folder called 'Coronavirus updates' containing all the letters and information we have sent out. Please also see our newsletters for information about how the school community are pulling together in this time.

In the meantime, for pupils, staff and anyone else who is planning to visit our school, please look out for the following symptoms and do not attend if:

  •  you have a new continuous cough and/or
  •  you have a high temperature (fever) - i.e. if you are hot to the touch on your chest or back

If you or your child have either or both of these symptoms you must stay away from school and self-isolate for at least seven days. The rest of the family (with no symptoms) must also isolate themselves for 14 days.

Thank you for your co-operation.  As the situation changes we will have to update this information, so please check back regularly.

All staff, visitors and pupils will be asked to wash or sanitise their hands when coming into school and regularly wash them or sanitise them throughout the school day.

Welcome to Cranmere Primary School and Nursery,

I am proud to say that Cranmere is a happy and caring school which is well supported by a very strong community of parents, families, Governing Body and local residents. Our children are polite, bright and engaging as a result of our family friendly ethos. We are fortunate to have a beautiful and well equipped new school building in the heart of Esher, behind Sandown Racecourse, which opened in April 2016 and is set within extensive and beautiful grounds which enhances and extends our teaching curriculum.

I have an incredibly hard working and dedicated staff team whose main aim is to ensure that above all, each and every child is a happy, motivated and enthusiastic learner who embraces learning and relishes challenge. As a staff team we are fully committed and continually strive to provide the very best learning opportunities and experiences through an exciting curriculum for all our children, from our Nursery through to Year 6, so that they can reach their full potential both academically and spiritually. Our aim is to equip our children with skills that will serve them well in education and in their lives as future citizens.

We are a fully inclusive school. Our 6 R’s (Responsibility, Resourcefulness, Reflectiveness, Reasoning, Respectful and Resilient) alongside Fundamental British Values (democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs) underpins our everyday practice so that all members of our school community respect and support one another as well as feel valued and safe. Each and every child’s safety and well-being is a priority.

We have a strong and active ‘Friends of Cranmere Association’ who organise many fundraising and social events throughout the year which are enjoyed by everyone and greatly benefit our children and provide additional resources for our school.

Visits to our school are warmly welcomed and once here you will see, hear and feel just what makes our school a great environment in which to learn and work. We are all very proud of our school and we are excited about the next step in our journey as we expand to serve our community further.

With Regards,
Mrs Kathie Daniels
Headteacher

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all members of staff and visitors to share this commitment.
