RE
‘Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.’ Aristotle
At Cranmere, our RE curriculum is designed to engage and enthuse learners. We believe that it is an essential area of study which ensures that children are well prepared for life in a world where there are a multitude of viewpoints.
They will learn about and from a variety of worldviews including Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Hinduism, Islam, and non-religious beliefs such as Humanism. As well as examining the theological, sociological, and philosophical elements of religion we have a focus on the visual culture behind world faiths.
At Cranmere, we want to develop curiosity in the way belief affects the way people live and the decisions they make. As they grow in knowledge, children will appreciate similarities in the values people of different worldviews share, such as a shared responsibility for social justice and social action.
In the Early Years children are encouraged to start developing a sense of personal identity through looking at things that are special to them. As greater knowledge of different viewpoints is acquired, children will be encouraged to articulate clearly and coherently their personal beliefs, values and experiences whilst respecting the right of others to differ.
