Music

Music can change the world.” Ludwig van Beethoven

“When words fail, music speaks” Hans Christian Anderson

Our music curriculum ensures that all pupils are given opportunities to perform, listen to, review and evaluate music. We provide diverse opportunities for our children to perform and listen to music across historical periods, genres, styles, and traditions. Singing is the heartbeat of our music curriculum, acting as a form of personal expression that fosters creativity and self-belief. They not only learn to sing but also respectfully engage in creating and composing their own music. Our commitment to showcasing the works of great composers and musicians adds depth to their musical exploration. Through experimentation, improvisation, and the use of technology, we empower them to be musical creators. Our curriculum provides opportunities for all children to learn a musical instrument, fostering curiosity and a connection with music that goes beyond the theoretical. The inter-related dimensions of pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure are integral to our teaching. We dip in and out of the award winning 'Charanga' musical scheme, building cross curricular connections where possible, so that our music curriculum is engaging and meaningful for our children.

In our dedicated music room, Surrey Arts qualified Music Tutors guide our students through their rich musical journey. Moreover, we actively encourage children to showcase their talents, promoting community cohesion within and beyond the school. Through our music curriculum, we aim not only to cultivate musicians but also to inspire individuals who appreciate the beauty of music and its ability to positively impact the world around them
