At Cranmere we recognise that Design Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject, which encourages children think and intervene creatively demonstrating their resilience and self-belief to solve problems both as individuals and members of a team. We nurture curiosity, creativity and imagination allowing our children to engage in the iterative process of design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts. We aim to link their work to other areas of the curriculum ensuring they revisit and retrieve learning, cementing their understanding across a range of subjects including mathematics, PSHE and communication and language. Recognising that learning to cook is a crucial life skill we instil a love of cooking which will support our children to develop heathy eating habits, promote lifelong positive attitudes and enjoyment of good food and cooking. Our intent is that our children leave our care having developed a good base of foundation skills to perform everyday tasks confidently so they become global citizens who actively contribute to the creativity, culture, wealth and wellbeing of themselves and their community.
