This term's topic

The topics for Autumn 1 are Stone Age to Iron Age, Spatial Sense and The Human Body. Ancient Egypt, Settlements and Cycles in Nature (seasons, plant & animal life cycles & animal migration) will be covered after October half term in Autumn 2.

You will find the knowledge organisers in the Newsletters section for history, geography and science for the Autumn term. The key vocabulary the children will be learning and using in lessons is listed on these knowledge organisers along with key facts and information. These are a really valuable resource to use when talking to your children about their learning.

Year 3

Welcome to our Year 3

Welcome to our Year 3 page. We have a really exciting year ahead of us this year with lots to look forward to.

P.E.

Our P.E. days this term are Tuesdays and Thursdays for Parakeets and Mondays and Tuesdays for Turtles. Please send your child in their P.E kit on these days. Could all clothing be clearly named to avoid anything getting lost. Many thanks.

Homework

Autumn 1

As part of our stone age topic, we would like the children to research and create a cave dwelling or stone age house. As part of your 3D model, try to use natural materials.

Due in Thursday 17th October 2024

Reading

Children are expected to read for 20 minutes every day and record this in their Home-School books. Even if your child can read independently, we recommend that you do still hear your child read regularly.  We would encourage parents to ask their child questions about what they read to help them develop their comprehension skills. If you would like some guidance on questions you could ask, please ask your child's class teacher.

Home-School books will be checked weekly.

At the end of the day:

  • Parents wait and collect their children outside the classrooms.
  • All children need to be collected by an adult unless we have written permission that your child can walk home.
  • Please let the office know if collection arrangements change or if you are running late.

If you would like to speak to your child's class teacher, please email the office to arrange an appointment.
