Elmbridge Junior Citizen Child Safety Event
On Friday 19th April 2024 at the Xcel Sports Hub, pupils from Year 6 took part in Elmbridge's Junior Citizen Day. This was a multi-agency safety event with representatives from the emergency services and local agencies. The event was specifically aimed at 10 to 11 year olds, as this is the age at which children are generally becoming more independent and dealing with changes in their lives such as the move to secondary school.
Throughout the day our Year 6 pupils were presented with a variety of scenarios. Each scenario, set up in a fun and interactive way, challenged the children's awareness and ability to understand the possible threats and dangers they may encounter in their lives, whether at the beach, by railway lines, or for their own personal safety.
Ultimately the aim of the event was to provide our children with the life skills that will enable them to keep themselves and others safe. We can categorically say the day was a great success with our year 6s showing great maturity, judgement and wisdom.
